“SAFE” In His Presence

Do you remember the old childhood game of Tag? It was probably the #1 favorite game my neighborhood friends and I would spend hours playing. A very simple game that, depending on how fast or slow you were, was sure to get your adrenaline pumping in no time fast!

The game of Tag was based on the idea of designating one person, the “It” person, who was responsible for chasing the other players in hopes of catching or tagging them. This person would have to stand still while they counted to 100 by 5’s while the other players scattered themselves as far away from them as possible.  As soon as the “It” person got to 100 watch out, because they were coming after you at top speed and their only objective was to tag you and make you “It”, unless of course you were fortunate enough to make it to “Base”.

BASE… ahhh what a lovely thing in the game of Tag! This was the safe place, a place were it was impossible to be tagged because the “It” person lost all power and authority to transfer his/her status to anyone who made it to this place. It was the place that anyone who wasn’t “It” tried their hardest to reach.

As I reminisced about how much fun this game was for us, I couldn’t help but think about how the “base” concept mirrors the safety and protection we are privy to when we come into the presence of our Heavenly Father.  The bible tells us that in His presence there is fullness of joy, but not only that, His presence is a place we can run to and be deemed “safe” and “off limits” to the dangers, pressures, stresses, and frustrations of life that at times seem to almost overtake us (see Psalm 91).

It really is a fixed situation in our favor that many of us forfeit because we neglect to run to our base–our safe place and enjoy the benefits that come along with actually taking God up on this beautiful offer!  Aaaannnd, as if the benefit of instant safety in His presence isn’t enough, we also get to take that status with us wherever we go–almost like packing up leftovers from a great meal and taking them with us to enjoy later!  The bible tells us that God is with us always, and that He would never leave or forsake us! It’s up to us to awaken to that promise and live our lives and face our circumstances with that truth in mind. It just gets better and better, doesn’t it?!

Do the pressures of life seem to be overtaking you?  Have you forgotten that you have a fixed outcome that leans in your favor?  Whatever pressures you might be facing today, may this serve as a gentle reminder for you to run as fast as you can to your base of safety and protection only found in the person and presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

God Bless You,

Keep Your Focus

Good Morning, Family! It’s been a LOOOONG time, I know! I hope all is well with you and yours!

I was planning to write a more formal “I’m Back” blog before jumping into the inspiration saddle again, but wanted to get this out ASAP. I feel like more people than just myself could get a good jolt of inspiration from what I have on my mind this morning, so here I go…!

Keep Your Focus–Don’t Become Distracted by Distractions. That’s it. That’s what has been heavy on my mind this morning.  Many of us have embarked upon wonderful paths of productivity. We’re finally writing, finally organizing, finally getting our finances in order, finally __________________ (you fill in the blank), and all of a sudden seemingly out of nowhere comes these “things” that cause us to veer off of our productivity path. It could be a thought that arises, or some silly conflict you’ve got to deal with before you can get on a roll again. Perhaps it’s a great idea that just can’t seem to wait its turn for your attention (distractions aren’t always bad). Whatever that “thing” is that’s gotten your attention off of what you’ve been making such wonderful progress on, I’m encouraging you and I’m encouraging myself to sharpen your focus and refuse to become distracted by distractions. There’s so much more  that awaits you if you just remain focused!

Have a wonderful day, family!

Continue utilizing your gifts. Today as you enter your day may you be encouraged to continue using the gifts God has blessed you with. May you realize that as you do, you are not only blessing those who are on the receiving end, but you are also preparing a place of blessing for you as you prove to be a faithful steward over what God has given you.

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” 1 Peter 4:10

“The one who had received the five talents came up and brought five more talents, saying, ‘Master, you entrusted five talents to me. See, I have gained five more talents.’ 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your ]master.’ Matthew 25: 2021

Keep pressing forward. Through experience I have come to understand that opposition can sometimes be an indicator that we are indeed on to something great—we’re on the right track. For example, you may have decided to enter a new business venture, say yes to a new project, or accept a new ministry role. For a while you find yourself on a beautiful road of productivity and then all of a sudden, seemingly out of nowhere, you are met with a barrage of set backs that threaten your continued progress and leave you uninspired and wanting to throw in the towel, but there is another answer.

Today if you find this is your reality, may you be encouraged to continue pressing forward. Though the struggle seems great, know that your actions are not futile. At the right moment, with just the right amount of investment, and in just the nick of time, you will break through that wall of opposition and begin sailing again on the calm waters of progress. Right now, think of this time as a training ground where you are forming the muscle stamina you will need at a later time along your journey, but if you don’t build it now, you will not have it when you need to call upon it, so with lots of love and inspiration, keep pressing!

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:29-31)

Pray and then pause. It’s no doubt that prayer is the most powerful agent of change, but what happens when the change we seek as a result our prayer doesn’t occur as soon as we expect? If we are not careful doubt and frustration will gain an entrance to our heart and will attack our faith. It may cause us to doubt if God ever heard us in the first place and may tempt us to take matters into our own hands.

Today may you be inspired to pray and then pause, giving God time to work on your behalf. Often times we don’t know the sequence of events that must occur until the actual manifestation of our prayer is revealed, but if we trust that God has heard us, we can also trust that before our prayer was formed He knew what we would say and had an answered prepared for us long ago.

But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.” Micah 7:7

God be glorified! Today as you enter your day may you be reminded of that fact that you are a living, breathing, walking vessel of the Lord with the ability to bring Him great glory in everything you do. May you go about your day with this truth at the forefront of your mind, and may all you say and do today and everyday bring heaping measures great glory to our God!

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:32

Exercise your God-given authority. Sometimes the repeated fiery trials of life have a way of intimidating us and, if we are not careful, causing us to forget the true power that lies within each of us. It’s an authority given to us by Jesus Christ and has great potential to overcome the power of the enemy of our souls—if we use it.

Today may you be inspired to tap into and exercise your spiritual authority as you experience this day. May you have spiritual eyesight to see beyond the natural, wisdom and boldness to speak words of faith and call forth those things that are not as though they are, and the blessed assurance that all of heaven is backing you as you do.

“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10: 19-20)

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” 2Timothy 1: 7

Choose love. People will sometimes hurt and disappointment you, but choose to love them anyway. There will be times when making the decision to love comes easy, and there will be times when you might have to wrestle with your flesh to choose the response you know is best. In these times trust that the power of God living in you is far greater than your will to hold on to what has offended you.

Today as you experience this day may you be inspired to choose the path of love as you interact with the various individuals who may cross your path today, and when the decision to love becomes tough, may God’s Holy Spirit give you that extra strength you need to choose your response wisely.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” (1 Corinthians 13: 4-8)

Let the Lord refresh you. The demands of life have a way of depleting us physically, emotionally, and (if we are not careful) spiritually if we don’t guard ourselves from over commitment. In efforts to recharge we may unconsciously grab the first thing we can get our hands on to give us that extra boost we need, only to discover that the fix was temporary.

Today may you be inspired to set time aside to allow the Lord to refresh you. Perhaps spend some extra time in His word, or find a quiet place where you can fully and completely focus on Him. Whatever you are inspired to do, may you leave that place more refreshed than when you entered and yet longing for more!

“The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside quiet waters.

He restores my soul;
He guides me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.” (Psalm 23: 1-3)

Give what you are in need of. Today may you be challenged and inspired to give away that which you are in need of. Do you need a miracle? Pray for a miracle to happen in someone else’s life. What about encouragement? Seek out someone who you can be en encouragement to today. May you be the answer to someone else’s prayer as you trust and believe God is sending or has sent the answer to yours.

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus…” Philippians 2: 3-5
